New Student Orientation (Middle/High School)
For Grade 6 to Grade 12
Every year we organize an orientation program for new students and their families in the week before the start of school to provide an opportunity for them to get to know some YIS students and faculty, learn about our school community and take care of practical matters.
To register your family, please click the "Register" button and select the number of "tickets" you need. This will correspond to the number of family members in attendance for the event. Please keep attendance to immediate family (parents and children) only.
You will then be asked to enter each attendee's full name (First Last, e.g., Smokey Dragon), select their role (enrolling student, sibling, or parent), and provide an email address to receive your QR-coded tickets.
If you have children attending both the elementary and secondary (middle/high school) orientations, please ensure each enrolling child is registered under their correct school division. For the other division's session, they should simply be listed as a "sibling of enrolling student." Any currently enrolled siblings or incoming ELC students attending the orientation for their older sibling with you can also be registered under the "sibling of enrolling student" role.
This year’s new YIS family orientation will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The orientation day is organized by each school section. Please see below for details.

Lunch
All new YIS families are invited to enjoy a Dragon Dining lunch in the Cafeteria or out on the terrace sponsored by our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). In order to accommodate everyone and spread out a bit, please join us at the following times:
- Secondary school students and parents: 11:45 am - 12:30 pm
- Elementary school students and parents: 12:30 pm - 13:15 pm
- Families with students in elementary and secondary sections may join either lunch session
Student ID Card Photos
All new students attending the orientation are asked to stop by a room (TBD) just off the 1F Hub Space during Orientation Day when they have time to have their picture taken for their student ID card. Our photographer will be available from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
In addition to serving as a student ID for obtaining a discounted commuter pass for public transport, the multifunction cards are used for Dragon Dining cafeteria accounts, library checkout, printing, and YIS school bus passes for those registered. All students in Grades 6-12 are required to tap their student ID card at an attendance station when entering or leaving campus.
