YIS provides a wide range of educational software on all student laptops. If you need additional software to support your independent learning, personal projects, or skill development, you can request installation through this form.

Before submitting your request, please check that your software meets these guidelines:

Purpose

• Software must support academic learning or skill development
• Gaming and social media applications will not be approved
• Explain clearly how the software will help you learn

Privacy

• The app must have a clear, published privacy policy and terms of service
• Data use must align with our data privacy expectations; for example, student data must not be sold or shared with third parties beyond what's needed to run the software
• It must be appropriate for your age group under its own terms of use

Compatibility

• Must work on our school Macs
• Must be a signed app from a verified developer (no unsigned or sideloaded apps)
• Must not require admin, root, or terminal/command-line access
• Must not change system or network settings

Alignment with School Policy

• Must not bypass content filtering or device management restrictions
• Must not provide access to gaming or social media
• Must not conflict with the school's AI tool policy

Review process

• Installation requests typically take 1–2 school weeks to review
• If your request doesn't meet the guidelines above, it will be declined .
